Two ways for stimulating the retina for artificial vision are currently well developed.One is sub retinal stimulation,in which a sheet containing  a micro photo diode array is inserted into the sub retinal space to compensate for for lost photoreceptor function and stimulating outer retinal network.The other is epi retinal stimulation ,in which retinal ganglion cells and their axons are stimulated with a multi electrode array attached to the vitreous side of the retina.
