Kottayam, March 19: Setting sights sky-high and beyond mere jobs in a knowledge and IT driven world is not the forte of a few students of elite institutions such as IIM’s. Five final year engineering students of the self-financed St Joseph’s college of Engineering and Technology, Pala have floated a company on their own, proving that such things could be made happen anywhere including rural pockets if there is a ‘will’ and a ‘vision’. Taking cue from similar initiatives of students in a few institutions across the country, Jerome Cherian, Lijo George, Jojo Joson, Cyriac George and Charles John, all of them final semester engineering students in different streams, have joined hands to become entrepreneurs on their own of a different kind. The wizards gave birth to Techseol Web Solutions India Pvt Ltd, focusing on (he service sector and providing web-based solutions.
The five have chipped in Rs one lakh each as seed capital for the venture. The company already have more than ten established websites and almost 50 websites are in the pipeline on topics like education, mobile & entertainment, The sites have more than half a million impressions per month, which is ensuring a clean Rs 50,000 par month now. The team has even employed five students from their own institution as part-time support staff, and hopes to induct more. Jerome Cherian is the CEO of Techseol. Lijo George is the chief technical officer and Jojo Joson functions as chief operations officer. Cyriac George and Charles John are the finance manager and HR manager respectively. The primary business domains of the company are Internet marketing and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), the students told a press conference here on Wednesday. Among the secondary business domains, web development and designing and content management system are added.As part of furthering tlie reach of the company, online magazines in technical, entertainment, educational and mobile phone fields, WAP applications, new web-based solutions based on SEO and e-commerce solutions are planned in a big way, they said,
Three among the team are placed in different reputed software companies but preferred to invest their time, energy and coughed up capital in the dream project. “We want to change the mind set of our generation. Most of the students of professional courses have no clear idea about their future. They are gifted with a lot of talents but they don’t think beyond a job. We decided to chose the entrepreneurial path. It has made us d irectors of our own company”, they affirmed proudly. Their dreams have no bounds, if one can believe it-to make their company the best web solutions company in India by 2010,with a capital of Rs 5 crore and providing direct employment to 100 people.
